Welcome to the Jungle...

Next time you're on your way back from work and stuck in maddening traffic that leaves you thinking - "It's a Jungle out there!" think of Guido Daniele.

Guido is an Italian multimedia artist and body painter. He was born in Soverato, Italy, lived and studied in India for two years, and now works in Milan. Since 1964 until 1968 he attended Brera artistic High School and he graduated from Brera School of Arts (major in sculpturing) in 1972. In 1972 he started working as hyper-realistic illustrator, in co-operation with major editing and advertising companies, using and testing different painting techniques. In 1990 he added a new artistic experience to his previous ones: using the "body painting" technique he creates and paints models bodies for different situations such as advertising pictures and commercials, fashion events and exhibitions.

In 2000 he began his internationally famous “Handimals” series of body painting. Have a look:

The Master at Work
[Bottom Row: Actor Ralf Moeller (of Gladiator fame) poses with his hand painted like the head
of a dolphin by Italian artist Guido Daniele at the opening of "Guido Daniele - Animal Hand Painting"
at the Dom Aquaree on February 19, 2009 in Berlin, Germany.
Moeller is a dolphin enthusiast and is seeking to raise money for their benefit.
If you think Guido needs to be patient, spare a thought for the "canvas"!]

As you can see from the pictures above, these amazing hand paintings of animals create illusions that are one of a kind. With such innovation and such talent, it was a matter of time that he would make great ads... He’s done commissions for major corporate advertising campaigns, in both print and for television. Here are some of his ads - I absolutely loved the AT&T campaign!

AT&T Ads
The photo shoot for the nine initial ads was two weeks long. The hand-painting took approximately a full day - by the time they were ready to shoot, it was already nightfall.

The WWF "Give a hand to wildlife" Campaign

The Schroders Campaign
Schroders is a two century old global asset management company with
£113.3 billion (EUR 133 billion / $186.5 billion) under management.
The ads have an Italian caption 'evolvi la tua natura di investitore' that can
be loosely translated as "Evolve your nature of investor"

Well Guido doesn't only paint hands - take a look at this ad...
